Thanks for the mini-trip! I lived in NYC five years and I have such complicated feelings about it. I’m 100% glad for the experience and life lessons, but the streets were pretty mean in the 80s!
I was set to attend F.I.T. as a high school graduate in 1967, but was convinced not to go by folks who knew how naive I was. New York streets were mean then, too. Now, even the Garment District feels touristy.
Thanks for taking us with on your NYC trip! Was great to be back for a bit( lived on Upper East side from 1985-88…great life experience!!!) have not been back in years…it’s on my “must do soon” list!!!
Nicole, I did enjoy your novel, very much, and in fact kept reading on my flight home the following day, continued on my sofa at home, and finished yesterday on my flight to Chicago (I am embarking to biking in France this afternoon). My perp-o-meter figured out "whodunit" only a few pages before Juniper did.
I often forget to take a picture of my food when it is set down in front of me because I’m so excited to dig in and then I am left with nothing to photograph but an empty plate. :)
And in a way the empty plate is the actual testament of deliciousness. The dish may look good, photogenically, but the bowl scraped, as mine was, with crusts of bread proves it.
