Today, on Independence Day, I’m thinking about the quilt I made forty years ago for the American Folk Art Museum’s “Great American Quilt Contest.” My entry, “Lady Liberty Medallion,” was the Iowa winner.
Thank you, Heather. The evening of the day we climbed to the crown, Mark and I (we were dating at the time) flew to Paris (my first time). We climbed to the top of Sacre Coeur, almost the same number of steps.
Thank you for sharing your work process. Figuring out settings, especially for multi-size blocks is always a challenge for me :) Wishing you and yours a lovely holiday weekend.
Such a beautiful quilt! I too climbed to the crown once and that stairway up and back down is quite the journey!

Amazing quilt. You have always done top prize quilts. What an honor to have a picture frame made out of the border.
Thank you, Claire.
Love this! I hope to master needle-turned appliqué someday. Last night I was reading a book by Margaret Sampson-George that is wildly inspiring!
Thank you, Sarah. One of these days, we should get together so I can show you my tricks!
I would love that! I’ll treat you to Petit Cafe.
Let's set a date in July. Email me and we will set it up!

Thank you for reading—best wishes back to you!
Catching up on my reading. What a gorgeous quilt. I'm so very impressed with your skills.
