A fact filled and fun first column! thanks. my mom loved quilting. I'm so happy that she made multiple ones for her kids and grandkids before she passed. all are still on beds or hanging from our walls.
Robert, you are a lucky man to have quilts made by your mom. When people ask me if I ever sell a quilt, I tell them, "If I love you, it's free. Otherwise, it's $100,000!

Hello Heather, thanks for this. Sometimes I forget to put the link to the full list of IWC writers when I post, and usually go back and update. Thank you for your kind words about Mary, too. She is loving Phd school!
Thanks for being so generous to the other writers in the Iowa Writers' Collaborative. Iowa became my home when I attended Grinnell College, so I was a natural fan of F & P! Love watching Mary's path in life. She's such a natural performer; I routinely refer new quilters to her Quilty on YouTube.
So delighted to learn you’ll be writing this column! Winterset, and Iowa, are so lucky to have you! I will share with a dear friend of mine who has gotten into quilting!
I watched your show for years and learned many skills from the book that you and Liz published. I especially love that you got your start from a class offered by Iowa State University Extension.

I tried signing in many times, set a new password… I feel like I’m in an endless loop. I’m giving up.
