This reminds me of the wonderful documentary, Saving Brinton. If you haven't seen it, you may really enjoy it.

Hello Douglas. Saving Brinton screened at The Iowa (I believe not too long after it premiered in Iowa City). I was out of town on the date it screened, so it's still in my future.

Beautiful work! In my small town of Springfield, TN, we have a similar story with a theater currently. I hope someone who has your vision helps bring it back to life in this way!

Thank you, Lisa. I did a little googling, and it looks like you are talking about the Capitol Theater. I found a news story with a visual, and, wow, the interior looks so much like The Iowa. I hope the Capitol has a new life.

Yes! It has somewhat been done by a developer, but currently sits for sale. Your story was such an inspiration. I have shared it with a few folks!

Kelcey, every piece you write in The Habit of Art is my favorite. I clicked on the link in your most recent one and read 50 Pounds of Art from January. That's before I knew about Substack, which happened in May. I'm so glad I got to meet you on Washington Island!

Sue, thanks for your encouragement and for asking how donation checks should be made out. Payee is the Iowa Theater, a 501c3 IRS nonprofit. Anyone who donates will get a letter of acknowledgement from me!
